Scooters are fun. It’s as simple as that. Sure, they’re practical and stylish and all that, but more than anything else a Vespa is just a really good time. Yet for all the fun one can have bombing around on a Vespa all by one’s self, riding scooters with friends (and even strangers) is even more fun.

That’s why we’re really looking forward to this coming Saturday, September 3rd. Two awesome things are intersecting at Motoworks Chicago. The first is that we’re having a dedicated Vespa test ride day in Chicago. If you’ve got your eye on a new or used Vespa, Saturday is your day to take that long overdue test ride. We’ll have our whole demo fleet of bikes available. All you have to do is register for a test ride and we’ll get you set up. Please note, you must sign up in order to test ride a Vespa. Test rides will be available from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, or otherwise by appointment.

The second awesome scooter thing happening on Saturday is that it’s the weekend of Slaughterhouse 22 — the 22nd gathering of Chicago’s largest scooter rally. This year’s rally has been dubbed “Catch-22”, but as far as we’re concerned, the only tough decision is whether to snag a Vespa of your own before or after you see the gymkhana we’ll have set up at Motoworks. What’s a gymkhana? It’s a fancy term for obstacle course. That’s right, we’re hosting a scooter obstacle course at Motoworks Chicago starting at 3:00 PM. Here’s an example from a few years ago.

During and after the gymkhana, we’ll be hosting a BBQ for the rally and for demo day guests alike. So please come by, even if you’re just interested in scooters. It’s a great preview of what being a scooter owner is all about.
